Have you ever tried explaining to your friends and family from overseas what the term ‘Flat out like a Lizard drinking’ means?

Wonder no more, Aussie Slang by Shaun O’Brien unlocks all the mysterious words and sayings that Aussies use to communicate with each other on a daily basis.

Could you have ever imagined that ‘Driving the Porcelain Bus’ was something you didn’t need a government issued driver’s license for?

This little gem it is written with great humour and liveliness as well as detail; it is not a dry academic work. But there are handy phrases included to help the reader contextualize. Within its pages you will even find a reference to some proudly Australian inventions of which some of you may be surprised to learn of their origins.

There is no better way to gain understanding and insight into the easy-going Australian laid-back language and approach to life. So get yourself a copy and learn how far you have to go to get to ‘Woop Woop’ where ‘The crows fly Backwards”
